Custom Orthotics

Eventually, the foot bone is connected to the back bone!
A small abnormality in your feet can have a large impact on joints higher up in the body, causing longer term pain and discomfort if not addressed. Custom orthotics work on your feet, ankles, knees, hips and back much like glasses work on your eyes – they reduce stress and strain on your body by bringing your feet back into proper alignment.

Believe it or not, your feet are not only important, they’re a complex combination of bone, tissue, muscle and ligaments:
the average person takes approximately 9,000 steps per day 1⁄4 of the Bones in the body are in your feet your feet contain 52 bones, 66 joints, 214 ligaments, 38 muscles & tendons

Up to 75% of the population will experience foot problems at some point in their lifetime. And as mentioned previously, your foot is functioning improperly it will affect your joints ankles, knees, hips and spine. Many patients seeking care for their pain and discomfort but do not realize that the source of their pain is their feet.

Orthotics: What are they and What do they do?

Orthotics look similar to the insoles that are currently inside your shoes. When placed in your shoe, they help control abnormal foot motion. They are particularly effective in treating excessive pronation (where the forefoot and/or heel rolls inward) or supination (when the forefoot and/or ankle rolls outward). If your feet are similar to the above illustrations and you suffer from sore hips, knees, shins, arches or metatarsal bones, orthotics could help reduce the discomfort. Orthotics also help to optimize performance and enhance comfort for athletes, or people with active or more sedentary lifestyles. Diabetics who suffer circulatory problems can also benefit from proper fitting orthotics
